The Legacy Data Conversion Center can convert FrameMaker, Interleaf, Word, and other
XML formats to S1000D. We can produce S1000D output in the same way we produce any other
output format. Our S1000D Conversion Tool works the same way that the other conversion
tools work and produces output with the same results.
S1000D is a standard output format. Tailoring it is expected, and most
tailoring does not require an additional fee. However, we will ask that you detail
your tailoring decisions for us.
We do not design the Data Module Codes. We expect that you have completed all data
modeling steps and are ready to begin mass legacy data conversion based on that analysis.
If you have defined the DMCs, we will use those. If you need help determining these, or in
doing any data modeling, we can help you with this for an additional fee. Typically, we are
concerned solely with source data conversion from one format to another. For example, we
will transform your binary Interleaf source document to an SGML or XML document that uses
the content tagging for S1000D. We cannot insert anything that we cannot determine either
from (1) the document itself or (2) your data analysis specifications. Should you provide
your S1000D data analysis specifications to us, we can include that information in the raw
source files that we return to you.
It does not matter what viewer you are using. Final conversion would performed on the
converted source we provide to you. No matter which of the many S1000D
viewers or a custom viewer, conversion of binary source data to a compliant, standard
output format will make the IETM/IETP conversion easier to achieve.
We convert the binary source and we proof the output. We verify that all text that
went in, comes out, and that it is tagged correctly based on your output requirements.
We ask that customers provide the documents to be converted, any applicable templates
and style guides, and any customization or specialization information that
you may be using in your choice of output format.
